Active vibration control makes it possible to achieve unequal performances in
areas where passive methods have show their limits.
Depending of the application, a wide range of actuators (i.e. piezoelectric
actuator, piezo patch, proof-mass actuator, MR fluid) and sensors (i.e. force,
displacement, strain, acceleration sensors) have been successfully implemented.
Because of the sensitivity of structural control to modal uncertainties, the
emphasis of the control is put on the robustness. Most of the time simple local
and decentralized controllers can be selected.
