Active Damping of Truss Structures

Micromega Dynamics has been involved in an ARCOP project - part of SME Initiative from the European Space Agency (ESA) - in collaboration with ULB and Cedrat Recherche for the development of active tendon control of space trusses.

Operation

The extremities of the truss are linked together using cables. Those are actuated by piezo-electric actuators driven by a special controller connected to internal sensors.

A proof mass shaker is used to generate stimuli and an accelerometer is used to monitor the corresponding truss behavior with control On or Off.
